RACE COMMITTEE REPORT

What an amazing day, somehow we pulled this one off!

We had so much trouble finding a place to launch. No TI, Emeryville, or Alameda, so we called Berkeley, with much trepidation, as we knew, one dock out of three there was closed, and we knew that CSC, and Cal Adventures had busy days ahead of them.

The day started so hot, but at RC breakfast, we could feel a slight breeze, so we hoped that we could get a race or two off.

We had two amazing clinics. The first was by Bill Hansen, and the 2nd by Bryan MacDonald. StFYC, also had their representative, Paul Heineken who helped talk about the StFYC Junior Windsurfing program, and who brought a rig to show us all. (Mike and I brought to the clinic a cooler with 48 bottles of water on ice, and everyone was drunk, by all at the clinics!)

We also had so many new racers, Cody, Kursat, Ian, Rob and Heidi. (I hope to see Mac out there next time) .

Then we had Skippers Meeting, with special announcements. (Hey guys and gals skipper's meetings are important!)

One was a big thank you to Thomas Fogh, who has listened to my RC concerns, for years, about spotting our racers, in their black wetsuits. Thomas asked me about the color I would wish our racers to wear, I said as bright as possible, what about yellow! Thomas ordered these rash guards, from England for us, with no logos, as he just wanted to help me achieve, my hearts desire of easily recognizing CalCup racers on the water, at our races, and not for any personal gain. These rash guards should have been here for the first race of our 2008 series, but it was not to be. When they arrived, all 40 of them, Mike and I decided to give back. So yes, we are the two people, who are responsible for putting the logos on the rash guards you chaps, and gals, will all now be wearing at CalCup races!

We managed to get 4 races off. A big thank you goes out to RC helpers, Bill, Mac, Emmett, and Marley.
