September 23, 2007 CalCup 6 (Emeryville) Results

RACE COMMITTEE REPORT

Racing was going to be a challenge, both Mike and I knew this. The weather had been very inclement for the time of year.

Everything was prepared on Friday to race on Saturday. RC was ready, for this race event, we had Jason Ward and Emmett McDonald on board the boat.

Saturday morning arrived and it was raining! We watched the conditions for about an hour, and then called Soheil and ask him to put a hold announcement on the CalCup home page. Mike and I changed the telephone hotline. By 10am we decided to go for it, all announcements were changed, and RC was notified.

We launched the CalCup boat, and went to the rigging area at Emeryville and joined all the CalCup racers. After a while the wind died to nothing, and we asked everyone if they would like us to postpone the last ‘make up’ race of the season, any racer that was present on Saturday, but could not make Sunday would get an average score for Sunday's races. The answer was YES, so we were on to race on Sunday.

We put the boat to bed, etc etc.

Sunday was a repeat of Saturday. Supplies were ordered and bought and the boat was taken again to Emeryville, launched, the course set, skippers meeting held etc etc. The race event was on!

We managed to get one race off, but the wind challenged most, as she decided to take a snooze. After race one, we waited. The wind returned and we had three more races.

Thank you everyone for racing with us in 2007.

Enormous thanks go to Jason Ward, Danielle Svehla & Emmett McDonald who were RC for 2007. It should not be forgotten that although Danielle was not on board for both the last two days, (she was there in spirit with her head in her study books :-) ) both Jason & Emmett did RC, for not one, but two days over this weekend.

We so enjoyed racing with you all in 2007 and look forward to 2008.
